February 1, 2010 | 7 Comments

If you haven’t already, you will need to first check out: How do I sync my tasks to my calendar?

We need your help! We are not sure how to do this yet, if anyone out there has information on how to subscribe to a ics file in Outlook please let us know!

Thanks!

Adding an ics or ical Calendar to Outlook 2007 is fairly straightforward.
    - Open Outlook
    - Switch to the Get It Done Web Page
    - Click ‘Export’ – ‘Subscribe to Calendar’
    - Click the Option to ‘Enable Calendar Syncing’
    - Click the Calendar http link

The Calendar will open under ‘Other Calendars’ in Outlook.

    Hi Tim,

I was under the impression that if you do it this way it is only a one time snapshot of the calendar and not really ‘Subscribing’ to the calendar. For example iCal will get updates from Get It Done every 5 minutes to see if there were any changes on the calendar. I’m not sure if Outlook does this.

But I did find this online form Microsoft:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101673251033.aspx

I think the “Add an Internet Calendar Subscription to Outlook” section is what we are looking for.

(please excuse my ignorance, I am not an Outlook user)

In order for you to have a subscription to a web calendar the calendar has to end in .ics and start with webcal://. Because your link is http:// outlook will only recognize this as a snapshot calendar and not a subscription. Thus a bit pointless to have this in outlook if we have to continually click the link within getitdone to have it post properly to outlook. I am sure you guys can correct this on your end pretty easily.

    One more request…

If a task doesn’t get completed on the day it’s due, does it carry over to the next day or does it stay on the original due date? This would help if we utilize our calendar sync so the items with due dates never get older than today.
